We were kindly featured by Squarerooms for this 5-room HDB BTO renovation project.

Designed by our Director, May Chang, this apartment is dressed in a modern industrial theme with hints of black and edgy woods complemented with trendy chevron laying patterns.

Living Room

Soothing neutrals abound in the living room. The wood-effect vinyl flooring paired with a white backdrop accentuate the spaciousness of the living area, while the cement screed feature wall does its job in enhancing the home's industrial theme. A partition in an eye-catching herringbone-patterned laminated finish was constructed to create a study area complete with wall-mounted bookshelves. The half-height glass panels help maintain the flow of communication with the adjacent communal areas. A clean, streamlined silhoutte is achieved here with recurring herringbone patterns, as well as the horizontal lines of slatted blinds.

Entryway

Interior designer May Chang had the ingenious idea of incorporating a shoe rack with a wall panel to conceal the bomb shelter. The homeowners' request for the presence of wood in their home is fulfilled by the copious usage of solid plywood in the home starting from the entryway, with laminated finish for the storage cabinets here.

Kitchen

The homeowners asked for an open-concept kitchen, so the walls between this zone and the dining area were hacked away to make space for an island made from laminated solid plywood and topped with a Silestone countertop. The island has been attached to the dining table to save space. The cooking zone is not all about function though. An eye-catching backsplash of patterned black-and-white tiles adds a design statement, while a full height chalkboard wall allows the homeowners to dictate their menu options.

Master En Suite

The master en suite is awash in refreshing neutral tones with a white wall tile overlay, which complements the slate grey homogeneous tile flooring. The vanity sink countertop was thoughtfully laid with a durable solid surface, while the mirror doubles up as a utility cabinet to reduce space consumption.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is an oasis of calm thanks to the abundance of wood elements. The TV feature wall has been constructed out of dark solid plywood with laminated finish. This has been paired with wood effect vinyl flooring. Cove lighting employed below the bed's platform plays up its floating illusion. The wall to an adjacent bedroom was hacked away to accomodate a roomy walk-in-wardrobe replete with a cornucopia of storage options and a full-length mirror lodged into the sliding door.
